My love of creating began with a pile of my father’s old t-shirts after he died. To preserve them, I developed a style of rug-hooking using wide strips that kept the logos intact. Working with Dad’s shirts made me realize the clothes we leave behind are heavy with stories. I now use vintage fabrics of all kinds in     rug-hooked pieces, often including the stories behind the materials. Embracing old cast-offs, I expanded Second Stories Art to incorporate bottles, buttons, barn wood, and even sun-bleached deer skulls, combining them with clay, ink and watercolors.
You may have seen my work at Staunton Art for Gifts, MTN Mystic, Basement on Byers Gallery, Art Hive, The Enchanted Mushroom Festival and other festivals and venues.Â
I've recently combined my love of art with my love of training.Â
I teach at The Staunton Clayground, The Staunton Augusta Art Center  and  Art Hive.
My Permission to Create course is a relaxed, guided workshop for adults to explore creativity without critique or pressure.Â
